Employee App for Warehouse Teams: Shifts, Exceptions, Clock-In
Warehouse shifts do not fail because nobody printed a roster. They fail because the schedule lives in one tool, the punch lives in another, the short-pick note is a text to whoever happens to be awake, and the real conversation is still WhatsApp. The supervisor updates coverage. The outbound lead never sees it. The morning closer inherits a private thread they were never in — and the return on the dock still has no owner.
Pebb is an all-in-one employee app built for that mess — a Connecteam-class daily surface for operations, communications, and collaboration without stacking hubs. You pay per person, not per floor and not per product. [Basic is $2.50 per user per month](https://pebb.io/pricing) for team chat, shift scheduling, GPS clock-in, timesheets, and a directory. Premium is $4 and adds voice and video calls, a news feed, Time Off, tasks, digital forms, a wiki, analytics, and SSO. Unlimited Spaces on both plans one Space per floor, shift band, or dock area, one Supervisors Space for people who should see everything. Chat is org-wide outside Spaces. There is no free plan. Trial is the full product, no credit card.
This page is for 11–80 person warehouse and distribution teams that mix frontline floor staff with a small office.
If you need a full WMS, live inventory, live GPS breadcrumbs, a dedicated LMS, hiring ATS, or payroll processing, say that up front — Pebb does not sell those. Keep the specialist tools for that desk. Use Pebb for the daily work: who’s on, clock in, own the exception, hand the shift off clean.

What warehouse teams actually need on the floor
A warehouse employee app is not a second intranet for the ops office. It is the phone surface the crew already lives on between picks, putaways, and exceptions.
**Who’s on this floor this week** — published shifts and open shifts people can pick up without a text chain when overtime or call-outs hit.
- **Clock-in at the place** — a GPS stamp on the punch, with optional near-branch validation so a punch from two towns over does not slide through. Stamp plus optional near-site check — not live breadcrumbs, not yard telematics.
- **Exception owners that survive the shift change** — short picks, returns that need a decision, downtime that needs a reason. Notes, files, and forms in the floor Space so night and day share the same thread, not a private WhatsApp.
**Talk without leaving the app** — org-wide chat on Basic, calls on Premium, so WhatsApp is not the real OS for coverage gaps.
- **A room per floor, shift, or dock** — Spaces for Outbound A, Inbound B, and Supervisors. Turn on shifts, clock-in, forms, and files where that crew needs them. Spaces are unlimited — not billed hubs. More: [What are Pebb Spaces?](/blog/what-are-pebb-spaces).
- **Forms that leave the clipboard** — exception logs, downtime reasons, photo attach, submit. Premium.
- **Leave that the scheduler can see** — Time Off org-wide on Premium, against the roster, not trapped in a separate HR product.
That is the job. Inventory truth and wave planning are different jobs. Pebb does not pretend otherwise.

Why hub-priced and per-site tools frustrate warehouse ops
Many teams arrive with a Connecteam quote, a Homebase quote, or a WhatsApp-plus-scheduler stack.
Connecteam sells Operations, Communications, and HR & Skills as hubs. Chat in one hub, time clock in another, PTO in a third. Past free for 10 people, Advanced is about $49 for the first 30 users per hub on annual billing — extra users meter per hub. The daily app often means three hubs. See [Pebb vs Connecteam](/blog/pebb-vs-connecteam) and the [Connecteam alternative](/blog/connecteam-alternative).
Homebase prices paid plans per location — wrong meter for two floors, one office, one headcount. Deputy is a strong compliance scheduler; richer chat is often Messaging+ or a higher tier. If you bought either as “the employee app” and still run WhatsApp for short picks and coverage, you are paying for a roster and still running the building in chat.
Pebbs bet: one seat count, unlimited Spaces, chat on Basic, ops next to chat. Floor two is a Space, not a new SKU. Same stack problem in [construction](/blog/construction-crew-employee-app) and [security](/blog/security-guard-employee-app).
Spaces mapped to floors, shifts, and exception owners
Think in rooms, not products.
**Outbound A / Day pick** — shifts, clock-in, forms, files for that crew only.
- **Inbound B / Night putaway** — same tools, different member list. The outbound closer does not drown in inbound posts.
- **Returns / Exceptions** — named owners for short picks and returns across shifts, without flooding the floor feed.
- **Supervisors** — feed, private files, coverage planning without the whole roster in the thread.
- **Everyone (optional)** — policies, SOP wiki links, events.
People only see Spaces they belong to. Chat stays org-wide outside Spaces. Time Off stays org-wide on Premium, so leave does not get stuck inside Outbound A’s room. Turn tools on per Space — a quiet returns desk does not need the same surface as a Supervisors room. Full walkthrough: [What are Pebb Spaces?](/blog/what-are-pebb-spaces).
A week on a warehouse team in Pebb
Monday the ops lead publishes next week’s roster into two floor Spaces; open shifts sit there for pickup. Tuesday the outbound picker clocks in with a GPS stamp and near-branch validation. Wednesday a Premium exception form goes out in Returns — short pick, photo, submit, named owner. Thursday Time Off on Premium shows against both floor rosters. Friday timesheets close toward payroll; a Premium supervisor can call from the thread when a dock holdup needs a decision. The handoff lives in the Space.
Pricing for an 11–80 person warehouse or DC
USD. No free plan. Full trial, no card.
**10 people:** Basic $25/mo. Premium $40/mo.
- **25 people:** Basic $62.50/mo. Premium $100/mo.
- **40 people:** Basic $100/mo. Premium $160/mo.
Spaces do not change those numbers. Five floors or one — same seat count. Details on [Pebb pricing](https://pebb.io/pricing).
**Basic is enough** for chat, shifts, clock-in, timesheets, and a directory. **Premium** for calls, news feed, PTO, tasks, forms, wiki, analytics, and SSO. Buy Premium for the exception form and the leave desk — not a slogan.
Honest limits (read these before you switch)
Pebb will not replace every tool on a warehouse desk.
**No payroll.** Timesheets leave the building. Payroll stays payroll.
- **No LMS and no hiring ATS.** If courses and recruiting pipelines are load-bearing, keep your training stack. See the [Connecteam alternative](/blog/connecteam-alternative) for when to stay.
- **GPS is a stamp, not a map of the shift.** Clock-in can GPS-stamp and optionally require near a branch — not live breadcrumbs.
- **Offline does not fully work.** Mobile needs a connection. Deep aisles and metal buildings with no signal are a real reason to keep a tool that caches a full shift.
- **No fake “10k warehouses” or star ratings on this page.** Judge the trial on your floors.
Those concessions are intentional. Warehouse buyers smell overclaim when a clock stamp is sold as stock truth.

Who should stay on a WMS or inventory specialist
Stay on a dedicated **WMS / inventory** product if receiving accuracy, slotting, wave planning, cycle counts, or live inventory truth are load-bearing. Pebb is the employee layer — roster, punch, chat, exception ownership not the system of record for stock.
Stay on **payroll** for tax filing and wage rules. Pebb exports timesheets; it does not run payroll. Stay if **LMS and hiring ATS** are why you opened the current app and you will not keep a separate training desk. Stay if **live GPS breadcrumbs**, a large geofence library, or full offline clock-in are non-negotiable — Pebb’s GPS punch is a stamp plus optional near-branch validation, not a tracking platform.
Stay if you are still under 10 on a genuinely free all-hubs plan that covers you — or if you only need a compliance scheduler and already solved chat. If the WMS desk is specialist-deep and chat is already solved, you may not need us.
Everyone else running WhatsApp as the real floor office should price Basic or Premium for the same headcount before renewal. Deeper math: [Pebb vs Connecteam](/blog/pebb-vs-connecteam).
Setup without a six-week IT project
Create a workspace. Invite with a link — phones first. Make a Space per active floor, shift band, or dock. Put shifts and clock-in on the floor Spaces. Make a Supervisors Space for people who should see everything. Add a Returns / Exceptions Space if short picks and downtime need a named owner. Chat is already org-wide outside Spaces.
Run one week in parallel with WhatsApp muted for that floor if the ops lead agrees. Expand Space by Space when Outbound A works — do not rip three tools mid-peak. Trial is the full product, no credit card. Start on one floor. Prove the morning closer saw the exception handoff. Then open Inbound B.
FAQ
**Is Pebb a warehouse-only app?**
No. Warehouse and distribution are a beachhead alongside construction, security, hospitality, and multi-location ops. Same app: [Construction crew employee app](/blog/construction-crew-employee-app) · [Security guard employee app](/blog/security-guard-employee-app).
**Do we pay per floor or building?**
No. Per user. Floors and docks are Spaces — unlimited on Basic and Premium.
**Does GPS mean we track associates all shift?**
No. Punch can carry a GPS stamp and optional near-branch check. Not live tracking.
**Will it work in a metal building with no signal?**
Not fully. Mobile needs a connection. If that is a deal-breaker, keep a product with full offline cache.
**Does Pebb replace our WMS or payroll?**
No. Keep inventory on the WMS. Export timesheets; payroll stays payroll. Use Pebb for roster, exception handoffs, chat, and clock-in stamps.
**Basic or Premium for two active floors?**
Chat, shifts, clock-in, timesheets → Basic. Forms, PTO, calls, wiki, tasks → Premium. Two floors are two Spaces; the meter does not change.
**How do we compare to Connecteam for warehouse?**
Price the hubs you need against Pebb’s seat count: [Pebb vs Connecteam](/blog/pebb-vs-connecteam) and [Connecteam alternative](/blog/connecteam-alternative).
One app for the floor — not a chat, a clock, and a clipboard
Twenty-five people. Two floors. One price. Chat that isn’t a hub. Exception owners that survive the shift change.
