How the News Feed Works in Pebb (Posts, Polls & Acknowledgements)
James Dean

This is the how-it-works page for the News Feed in Pebb — not a “best intranet app” trophy and not a competitor money page. If you need the Spaces model that holds each feed, start with What are Pebb Spaces?. If you need day-to-day talk next to the roster, read how team chat works in Pebb. Here we walk the product: Space-scoped feeds, compose and publish, polls, important posts with acknowledgements, scheduled and silent posts, notifications, comments, and the limits we will not paper over.
Pebb is an all-in-one employee app (Connecteam-class ops + communications + collaboration). The News Feed sits next to shifts, clock-in, forms, tasks, and files inside unlimited Spaces, with org-wide chat outside Spaces on Basic. Basic is $2.50 per user per month; Premium is $4. There is no free plan. Trial is the full product, no credit card. News Feed is on Premium ($4) — Basic does not include it. GPS on clock-in is a stamp ± optional near-branch — not live breadcrumbs. No payroll, LMS, or ATS.

The feed lives in Spaces (not one company megaphone)
Every News Feed belongs to a Space. A Space is a room with a member list — a branch, job site, floor, warehouse, hotel department, kitchen, or managers-only pod. Turn News Feed on for that Space; people see updates that belong to the Spaces they are in.
That is why multi-site ops stop blasting Boston’s closing note into New York’s morning crew. One Space per site or crew is the usual pattern. An Everyone Space carries company-wide announcements when you need one shared megaphone. Spaces are unlimited on Basic and Premium — rooms, not billed hubs. Full model: What are Pebb Spaces?.
Chat stays org-wide outside Spaces on purpose. A quick “did you see the hard-hat rule?” can start in chat; the durable announcement with acknowledgements still lives as a Space feed post — not as twelve disappearing WhatsApp forwards. Roster and punch siblings: how shift scheduling works in Pebb · how clock-in works in Pebb. Structured collection sibling: how digital forms work in Pebb.
How it works: compose and publish
At the top of the Space feed, the composer says something like “Share anything from big news to daily updates.” Open it for Create Post:
Text — short daily notes or longer announcements; bold/heading/emoji/link when they help
Media — image, video, file, GIF
Create Poll — optional vote options on the same post
Schedule Post — publish later instead of now
Set as important — surface acknowledgement when people must confirm they read it
Silent post — appear in the feed without push/email noise
Submit. The post lands in that Space’s feed for members on web and mobile.
Typical replacements for bulletin boards and chat-only broadcasts: branch reopenings, safety rules, menu or process changes, shift handoff notes, policy reminders, recognition, onboarding intros, and “read this before you punch in” ops updates.
How it works: polls
Create Poll adds options people can tap — team lunch vs bowling, which training slot, which uniform, extra-shift interest. Votes can show as public when transparency helps. For sensitive HR questions, use a quieter channel (forms / 1:1) instead of a public poll.
Managers get a fast pulse without another spreadsheet survey. Frontline staff vote from the phone between tasks.
Important posts and acknowledgements
Mark Set as important when missing the update is a real problem: safety, emergency, policy, required process change, reopening instructions.
The feed shows an Acknowledge control and an Acknowledged by N people count. Supervisors stop guessing who saw the hard-hat rule. Employees tap once from mobile on site.
Use important sparingly. If every post demands acknowledgement, people stop reading — same failure mode as “reply ALL” email.
Scheduled and silent posts
Schedule Post queues a morning briefing, Friday menu drop, or Monday safety reminder so you are not posting at 5am from memory.
Silent post publishes into the feed without notifications — weekly recap, team photo, non-urgent reminder. Pair that with real alerts only when interruption is earned.
Notifications, reactions, comments
Posts can fan out with mobile push and/or email when visibility matters. Reactions give a one-tap “got it.” Comments and replies keep questions under the right announcement instead of a third WhatsApp group. Save (bookmark) keeps policies and checklists findable later.
Permissions follow the Space: who can post, who can manage, who only reads and acknowledges. Exact admin toggles live in Space settings and the help guide linked above.
News Feed next to shifts, clock-in, and chat
News Feed is not a bolt-on intranet SKU and not a separate “employee app” invoice.
On Basic you get org-wide chat, shifts, clock-in, timesheets, directory, and unlimited Spaces. On Premium you add News Feed, calls, Time Off, tasks, forms, wiki, analytics, and SSO. Week pattern that sticks: publish the roster → punch with GPS stamp ± near-branch → ops announcements in the Space feed (with ack when needed) → chat for the quick ping — one login.

Mobile + web
Employees live on mobile: read, acknowledge, vote, comment, react, open push/email deep links. Managers often live on web for longer posts, file attaches, scheduling, and scanning acknowledgement counts before a shift starts.
The product bet is simple: replace scattered WhatsApp/email/bulletin noise with one Space feed people actually open because the roster and punch live next door.
Honest limits
Read these before you migrate:
No free plan. Budget Basic ($2.50) or Premium ($4) seats. Evaluate with the full trial, no card.
News Feed needs Premium. Org-wide chat is on Basic; News Feed, acknowledgements, and Space polls as described here are on Premium ($4).
No payroll, LMS, or ATS. Export timesheets toward payroll; keep hiring and training systems of record elsewhere.
GPS is a stamp ± near-branch on clock-in, not live breadcrumbs or a tracking map.
Feed is not your policy archive forever. Put handbooks and SOPs in Knowledge Library / Files; use the feed for timely updates and required reads.
Not a consumer social network. No personal follower graph — work Spaces, work directory, work login.
Pebb is Connecteam-class all-in-one on purpose — not a pivot into a standalone social intranet or a WFM-only desk. If that match is wrong for your team, the trial will show it in a week.
