Connecteam is a real ops app. The catch is how you buy it. Operations, Communications, and HR & Skills are three hubs sold separately. Chat lives in one. The time clock lives in another. PTO lives in a third. Past the free plan for 10 people, you are shopping a catalog, not buying an employee app.
Pebb is one workspace for the floor and the office. You pay per person, not per hub. Basic is $2.50 per user per month for chat, shifts, clock-in, timesheets, and a directory. Premium is $4 and adds calls, a news feed, PTO, tasks, forms, a wiki, analytics, and SSO. Unlimited Spaces sit on both plans. They are not extra billed hubs.
This Connecteam alternative is for 11–80 person construction, field, security, warehouse, and multi-location teams that outgrew “free for 10” and do not want three invoices to run a Tuesday. Restaurants fit too. They are not the only crew this is for.

The quote jumps when you add a hub, not only when you add a person. At 40 you are 10 past the first-30 block. Three hubs means three extra-user meters.
What Connecteam’s Pebb write-up gets wrong
If you landed here from their comparison, these lines are wrong:
Pebb does not have a free plan for 15 users. There is no free plan. Plans are Basic $2.50 and Premium $4 per user.
Calls are not a $1.50 video add-on. Voice and video are on Premium.
Comparing Pebb to one hub price is the wrong stack. Chat, clock-in, and PTO are three Connecteam hubs.
Pebb is not “denied geofence.” Clock-in can GPS-stamp and optionally require the punch near a branch. That is not live breadcrumbs.
SSO is on Pebb Premium, not missing.
Offline is the one they got right. Pebb’s mobile app needs a connection. Full offline does not work. If your site has no signal, that is a real reason to stay on a tool that caches a full shift.

Clock-in and GPS
Winner: Connecteam if you need live tracking. Pebb if you need a punch next to chat.
Connecteam stamps GPS on paid Operations, adds geofencing from Advanced, and runs breadcrumb trails on Expert — location history while someone is on the clock. That is built for crews that move.
Pebb clock-in can GPS-stamp the punch and optionally require the person near a branch. It is not live tracking. We will not pretend it is telematics.
Most warehouses, job sites, and shops need “they punched at the place,” not a map of the afternoon. If you need the map, stay on Expert Ops.
Scheduling
Winner: Pebb for a roster that lives next to chat. Connecteam if Operations is already the desk that builds the week.
Both do shifts. Pebb includes shift scheduling and open shifts on Basic and Premium. People pick up work in the same app they message the lead.
Connecteam scheduling sits in Operations. If building the roster under rules is the hard problem, their Operations hub is the specialist. If the hard problem is “the closer never saw the swap,” Pebb is the daily app.
Chat and calls

Connecteam chat is the Communications hub. Limited access if you only bought another hub. You do not get org-wide conversation as a free side effect of the time clock.

PTO
Winner: Pebb if you already bought chat and the clock. Connecteam if you want the whole HR hub.
Connecteam time off is HR & Skills. You do not get PTO “included” with the time clock.
Pebb Time Off is org-wide on Premium. Request, approve, see it against the roster. You do not buy a third product to let someone take Thursday.
Tasks, forms, and wiki
Winner: Pebb Premium for the bundle. Connecteam if you already live in Operations forms plus a Communications knowledge base.
Connecteam tasks and digital forms sit in Operations. The knowledge base sits in Communications.
Pebb Premium includes tasks, digital forms, and a wiki in the $4. Basic does not. Do not expect a handbook on Basic.
Payroll
Winner: neither as a payroll product. Pebb does not run payroll.
Neither is your payroll processor. Timesheets still leave the building. Your payroll system still runs payroll.
Spaces vs hubs
Winner: Pebb.
Connecteam’s model is products: Operations, Communications, HR & Skills. Each is a bill. Each has Basic / Advanced / Expert. Extra users stack per hub.
Pebb’s model is Spaces, not SKUs. Unlimited dynamic Spaces on Basic and Premium:
A Managers space: feed + group chat + private files.
A New York space: shifts + clock-in + forms.
Turn on the tools that site needs. Do not buy a hub to unlock chat. Chat is already org-wide. Time Off is already org-wide. A second warehouse is another space, not another subscription.
What a week looks like on Pebb
Monday the superintendent drops next week’s roster in the job-site space. Open shifts sit there. A temp picks one up from the phone.
Tuesday a warehouse lead clocks in. GPS stamps the punch. Optional near-branch validation is on, so a punch from two towns over does not slide through.
Wednesday a form goes out in the New York space: incident checklist, photos, submit. The office sees it without a separate “forms hub.”
Thursday someone asks for Friday off. Time Off is org-wide, so the scheduler sees it against the roster instead of hunting an HR product.
Friday timesheets close. Chat stayed in the same app — not a Communications add-on. A GM on Premium starts a call from the thread instead of leaking the crew into WhatsApp.
Setup and switching
Create a workspace. Invite with a link. Make a space per site or crew. Shifts and clock-in on the floor spaces; a Managers space for people who should see everything. Chat is already org-wide.
Run one week in parallel if you want a clean cutover. Leave historical timesheets where they are.

If Connecteam is still your LMS and hiring desk, keep it for that. Move the daily work. Stop paying a Communications hub so people can message each other.
